What is Kalos

I'm so glad you've found your way here to Kalos!

I'd love to take some time and show you around what it is that I do and why I love it. But first, let me tell you what Kalos means and why it's important to me. Kalos is a Hebrew word for "Beautiful, Noble and Worthy of Praise." To me-that's exactly what your wedding, and more importantly, your marriage should be—Kalos!

I've been in and around weddings for several years now working as a photographer, planner, designer and pretty much whatever else is needed. But, as a designer and a bit of a print nerd, I keep getting hung up on how much I love working with the printed and handmade projects of a wedding. I love how a good design can give your guests a small taste of what they can expect at your special day. And then-even more-I love seeing similar designs and themes flow through your wedding programs, menus and signs.

I'm Suzy Matthews. Nice to meet you!

Now that you know what Kalos is-I'll tell you a little about who I am. I grew up in the home of an artist and some of my earliest and fondest memories involve painting lessons with my dad. He is an incredible artist who always encouraged me to explore my creativity wherever that might lead. Long story short, that creativity led me to study Graphic Communications at Clemson University. (Go Tigers!) I accidentally happened upon the wedding industry during my time at Clemson and found myself addicted to everything about weddings rather quickly.

  • I married a man named Dave Matthews-we have fun making dinner reservations!
  • We bought an 1800s farmhouse and are loving the process of fixing it up–one room at a time. Joanna Gaines is my hero!
  • I will probably always have a bird.
